Beach Gear helps parents plan, organize, and execute beach days effectively. When we take our baby out, it can definitely be an involved process. It’s like taking a mini version of home with us so no one is in the kind of need that off puts the entire trip.
With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of baby gear we believe will make your beach day a more enjoyable one for all involved. Check out our 7 (seven) suggestions below.
Best Baby Beach Gear Items
1. Sunhat Summer Water Swim Hat
(Best sun hat — $)
Why it’s great: Keeping your baby’s beautiful dome cool from the heat is a must when it comes to going to the beach. These capable and minimalist swim hats have your baby covered, literally. It’s comfortable, floatable, and made with UPF 50+ for the ultimate sun protection.
This sun hat offers adjustability so that it always fits, especially as your baby’s head grows through each developmental stage. It also fits true to size. With a built-in neck flap/veil, your baby is even more protected from too much heat and sunburns, while the extended cap on the front guards their eyes. The chin strap keeps safety in mind with an emergency release.
This lightweight and breathable hat is made with a mesh vent to keep moisture away like a sweatband. It dries quickly, doesn’t wrinkle, and it’s stain-resistant (but it’s machine washable if necessary). Choose from gray, tan, white, blue, or pink for your little boy or girl for the beach or pool.
Keep in mind: Though there are many built-in features to prevent sunburn, always wear sunscreen.
Good for: Newborns up to 6 years old, beach, and the sun.
Why it’s great: Having a beach blanket is a must for a day out in the sun and water, but having an extra-large blanket offers many benefits. Typical blankets can hold up to three (3) people, but up to eight (8) can fit on this one!
This quick-dry blanket is sand-proof, waterproof, heatproof, lightweight, machine washable, and durable. It’ll hold up with tables and chairs being used on it as well. It’s triple stitched for extra longevity, too.
With six (6) metal stakes, four (4) securing anchors, and four (4) corner pockets (simply stuff with sand or heavy objects), you’ll set up quickly without fear of your blanket flipping in the wind (with sand in tow!) or blowing away. After you’re done, just shake the sand off and store it in the attached compression pocket sack.
This extra-large blanket comes in blue, gray, purple, green, or white. It’s 100% nylon and weighs about one pound.
Keep in mind: This blanket measures 84 inches in width and length. You can choose a smaller size if you want – for up to three (3) people, five (5), or eight (8).
Why it’s great: Feeding our babies is typically at the forefront of the day-to-day. Feeding at the beach without sand and other variables getting in the way is necessary for a stress-free mealtime. Ciao! baby’s highchair is a great on-the-go option for many reasons.
This chair is lightweight, portable, and comes with a traveling bag that slips right over your shoulders. With a 5-point harness, you won’t need to worry about your little one squirming free while eating. At the same time, this highchair is comfortable and spacious. A built-in tray (and cup holder) made of vinyl makes it easy to clean up for those mealtime messes.
Its overall design is constructed with durability in mind and there’s no assembly required. It also meets the US American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the EU European high chair safety standards. There is no lead, phthalates, or flammability in the material according to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).
Choose from black, dark or light blue, blush, red, and gray. You can also separately purchase a booster seat or clip-on umbrella for even more convenience from the same company.
Keep in mind: Some parents found that once they put their child in the chair, the middle section for the tray dips somewhat. Be sure to use a silicon plate that will grip to the chair’s tray material. This will prevent too much dipping as a plate works as a stabilizer.
Good for: Children 3 months to 3 years old (10 to 35 pounds), travel (air included), and beach or outdoor activities.
Why it’s great: Maybe your baby isn’t ready to take on the entire ocean just yet, but that doesn’t mean they should miss out on a beach day. Bblüv’s gets this and thoughtfully designed this beach pool to meet your baby where they are (for now).
This beach pool is waterproof and cleans easily. To use, simply dig a hole, open the beach pool, and add water. Your baby gets six (6) inches of depth to enjoy all on their own with beach water and/or sand. You also get four (4) spikes or anchors to secure the pool, and it comes with a collapsible water bucket for more fun.
When you’re done, store it in the travel bag. You can clean it with soap and water when necessary. This lightweight and compact beach pool is safe, durable, and lots of fun!
Keep in mind: Always supervise your child around open water. Item measures 30 inches around when open and 12 inches when closed. Babies and young toddlers, and beach days
Good for: Babies and young toddlers, and beach days
5. MacSports Heavy Duty Collapsible, Folding All Terrain Utility Beach Wagon
(Best beach wagon — $$$)
Why it’s great: Going to the beach is an affair when it comes to remembering everything you need and having enough arms or bags to make it happen in one shot. Take the pressure off your mind and arms with this heavy-duty beach wagon!
When in use, this wagon expands into 31.8 inches (length) x 21.5 inches (width) x 17 inches (height). No assembly is required as it unfolds itself in seconds due to the accordion-style frame and bed. When not in use, it stores compactly down to 9.7 inches. It does include a carrying case as well for storage or travel.
You can carry up to 150 pounds of load, so it’s perfect for a long day at the beach or transporting whatever is necessary for an all-inclusive day trip. If things get messy, the 600D denier fabric is easy to clean and is durable as well as UV friendly and mildew resistant. Keep your load steady with the coated steel frames.
Moving this utility wagon around is easy too. The handles are adjustable and the wheels are big to get across various terrains. The side pop-up table is also quite convenient for holding drinks, cellphones, keys, or toys – whatever you need to grab quickly and easily.
Keep in mind: Wagon weighs 23.1 pounds. The manufacturer doesn’t recommend transporting your child in the wagon for safety reasons.
Good for: Beach, and transporting multiple and/or heavy items
On An Important Side Note… Asher and I (pictured) feel it’s necessary to highlight the value of life insurance for parents with young kids. After extensive research, we discovered that parents can get insured for as little as $10 per month. We use Ladder Life who offers coverage up to $3M per parent (without a medical exam, just a few health questions) and you can apply 100% online.
Why it’s great: Having a private area for your little one can be quite convenient on the beach. With UPF 50+ sun protection, your baby can stay cool and sunburn-free in this little but spacious tent.
No assembly is required as its pop open design is automatic within seconds. It’s built to be open and closed thousands of times without giving out. Keep your baby cool with the mesh windows. Give them a private area for sleeping or playing with the curtain, which can be zipped open or closed. There’s also a mosquito net to keep bugs out as well.
It’s lightweight (1.8 pounds) and portable with a carrying case. Use the two pegs to windproof the tent by securing it in the sand.
Purchase in gray or blue. Made of nontoxic 210T polyester taffeta fabric and fiberglass rod frames. Tent measures 24 inches (height) x 48 inches (length) x 30 inches (width) when open and 19.3 inches when closed.
Keep in mind: Tent doesn’t come with a cushion or mat at the bottom, so to make your baby more comfortable, use a towel or baby pillow. Always supervise your child and keep them in sight during use.
Why it’s great: Does it feel like the sand comes and goes with every beach trip? Not a fan of it? Then you’ll need to upgrade your beach gear with not just any kind of mesh bag, but an extra-large one.
This tote is special for all the reasons. It’s large, measuring 24 x 8.7 x 18 inches! It has four (4) deep outside pockets to store easy-to-grab items and a zipped inner pocket for your valuables like phone, keys, and money.
You’ll have ample space in and out for diapers, sunblock, towels, toys, water, wipes, and even swimming gear with room to spare. You can transport it easily on your shoulder via the carry strap. Close the top with the zipper if necessary.
The mesh design means it’s easy to dry, which prevents mold or mildew. It’s lightweight and ready to store anywhere. Despite this, it’s durable and made from 600D polyester, but if you have any issues, it comes with a lifetime warranty.
Keep in mind: The bottom is also made of mesh.
Good for: Beach or pool, carrying items, and large families.
