The Best Maternity Jeans

1. Jessica Simpson Women’s Maternity Full Length Secret Fit Belly Skinny Leg Jegging

(Most stylish — $$)

Jessica Simpson Women’s Maternity Full Length Secret Fit Belly Skinny Leg JeggingWhy it’s great: These maternity jeans are definitely my favorite on this list, due to their high quality and stylish appearance. As with many Motherhood Maternity jeans, these jeans feature their patented, wonderful secret belly fit design. This belly panel will stretch to fit you as your belly grows and accommodate you throughout your pregnancy. These skinny leg jeggings are full length with a 30-inch inseam and have fully functioning front and back pockets – something many maternity jeans lack. They come in a dark wash and medium wash denim and have a nice, polished look. Even the belly band is stylish looking!

Keep in mind: These run a bit small. Some women say there isn’t much stretch in the material or that they can be tight at the ankles. Pay close attention to the size charts when ordering.

Good for: Women looking for the most stylish maternity jeans.

They are super cute, with the leg cut just above the ankle for a casual look. These jeans feature a knit belly panel that offers lower-back support during your first trimester, but can also be folded down to accommodate your body as your belly grows. These jeans fit great, are true to size, and are cute and comfy. They are also great to wear post-pregnancy.

Keep in mind: The description states that these are for the first trimester, but the reviews state that they are best for second and third trimesters.

3. Motherhood Maternity Indigo Blue Side Panel Skinny Ankle Length Denim Overalls

(Best overalls — $$)

Motherhood Maternity Indigo Blue Side Panel Skinny Ankle Length Denim OverallsWhy it’s great: These overalls are adorable! They have a destructed look throughout and are frayed at the ankle where the hem is let down. Being 98% cotton, they have a stretchy, relaxed fit, and are so comfortable. These overalls feature an elastic side panel that will expand as your belly grows, which means these babies can be worn throughout your pregnancy, and beyond!

Keep in mind: These fall to right above the ankle, but can appear much shorter on ladies with longer legs.

4. Signature by Levi Strauss & Co. Gold Label Women’s Maternity Baby Bump Skinny Jeans

(Best for first trimester — $)

Signature By Levi Strauss &Amp; Co. Gold Label Women’s Maternity Baby Bump Skinny JeansWhy it’s great: These Levis look great with their 80% cotton dark wash denim! The best part about them is they have a cooling technology feature in the baby bump panel, which is especially nice considering a lot of women run hot during pregnancy. These jeans are super stretchy, fit snuggly, and they run true to size. They don’t lose shape throughout the day, so they look great all day long. They also have functional back pockets, which is a plus, as many maternity jeans do not. I have never had a pair of Levis I didn’t love.

Keep in mind: These are best worn during your first trimester, as they can feel a little tight in the low belly as it begins to grow.

Good for: Women looking for a comfortable pair of maternity jeans for early pregnancy.

5. Motherhood Maternity Women’s Maternity Indigo Blue Stretch Secret Fit Belly Boot Cut Jean

(Best value — $)

Motherhood Maternity Women’s Maternity Indigo Blue Stretch Secret Fit Belly Boot Cut JeanWhy it’s great: These Motherhood Maternity jeans are fantastic! They feature Motherhood’s exclusive, patented belly panel feature that enables the material to grow along with your belly. These jeans are great to wear whether you are in your first trimester or your third! Their cotton and polyester blend accounts for their stretchy fit, which is true to size and oh-so-comfy. Plus, they have a 29-inch inseam and a bootleg cut, which is both comfy and trendy. They also have functioning back pockets. When you consider the price, these are the best value for your money, as these jeans will last you the duration of your pregnancy!

Keep in mind: These are on the longer side, which makes them great for taller women! Also, some women feel they lean a little more toward “bell-bottoms” than bootcut.

Good for: Women looking for maternity jeans that will last through the whole pregnancy and are affordable.

6. Ingrid & Isabel Women’s Maternity Crossover Panel Bootcut Jeans

(Most unique — $)

Ingrid &Amp; Isabel Women's Maternity Crossover Panel Bootcut JeansWhy it’s great: These maternity jeans have a back crossover panel that works to help support your lower back as your belly gets bigger. Plus, since the panel cuts lower in the back, it helps to keep you cool. The panel is made to stretch and will fit through all three trimesters. They can even be worn after pregnancy if you wish! These come in a medium wash with a slight, bootcut fit that hits at the ankle. They’re made from cotton, polyester, and spandex, which means that the jeans themselves have quite a bit of stretch, making them extra comfortable.

Keep in mind: These only come in one size, so make sure to check the size charts and see if they’ll fit before you purchase them.

Good for: Women who want maternity jeans that will help to support their back and keep them feeling cooler.

Hard to find in maternity jeans! These jeans can be worn all throughout your pregnancy. They are so cute and comfortable that they are even wearable when you’re not pregnant, as many women choose to do! Don’t believe me? Just read the reviews! At this price range, you could get a pair in every color.

Keep in mind: You may need to size up, as these tend to run a bit small. The legs are on the shorter side too, so long legs beware and check length measurements.

9. Three Seasons Maternity Women’s Maternity Skinny Jean with Neutral Belly Band

(Best quality — $$)

Three Seasons Maternity Women's Maternity Skinny Jean With Neutral Belly BandWhy it’s great: What I love about these is that they’re made from polyester, rayon, and cotton. Rayon is a super soft fabric with a lot of stretch, which makes these jeans lightweight and comfortable. They are skinny jeans, with contrast stitching, which gives them an extra something special in the style department. Plus, the belly band is a nude, so you don’t have to worry about wearing light-colored shirts over a dark band, like a lot of maternity jeans have. They even have real back pockets, which makes them an instant favorite!

Keep in mind: These have long legs, which is great for most women, but could be too long for more petite women.

Good for: Women looking for high quality, comfortable maternity jeans that still look good.

10. Milano Basic, Essential Maternity Jeans

(Best basic jean — $$)

Milano Basic, Essential Maternity JeansWhy it’s great: These come in multiple sizes and color options, which makes them a great choice if you like to have some variety. They’re made in Italy with stretchy fabric and cotton jersey. They’re soft and comfortable and will stretch along with your belly. It also has working pockets in both the front and back, which is practically unheard of! The basic style and look of these jeans will match pretty much any top you could possibly have in your closet, making them an essential piece.

Keep in mind: The belly band helps to hold up the jeans, but isn’t as supportive for your belly or back as some of the other options.

Good for: Women that want a basic pair of jeans that they can wear during pregnancy.

11. Maternal America Women’s Skinny Maternity Jeans

(Most supportive — $$$)

Maternal America Women's Skinny Maternity JeansWhy it’s great: These maternity jeans have so many amazing qualities. For one, they have a wide support band that goes all around, under your belly, making sure that you have the support you need. Plus, since the band goes under your belly, they’ll fit throughout your entire pregnancy. They also have 5 usable pockets!! These come in a dark wash and are made of mostly cotton, with a little spandex, which makes them comfortable and stretchy.

Keep in mind: These don’t have a full belly band that covers your stomach.

Good for: Women looking for more under the belly support.

FAQs about maternity jeans

1. How do I know my maternity jeans size? Do I size up?

The best thing to do is to start with your pre-pregnancy size. Most brands will recommend this. However, it is important to note that sizing variations occur across different brands, so it is always advised that you consult sizing charts specific to the jeans you are considering and go from there. You might also want to check the return policy just in case the jeans you choose don’t fit as expected.

2. When should I start wearing maternity jeans?

There is no “magic week” where you cross the threshold into maternity-wear land. You should start wearing maternity jeans whenever your regular jeans begin to feel uncomfortable for you in any way.

3. How do I choose the best maternity jeans?

You should look for maternity jeans with a waistband that feels comfortable, and perhaps gives the option to wear up or down. You want to make sure the pants stay up through various movements and don’t restrict movement or circulation anywhere.

4. What is the best material for maternity jeans?

Most maternity jeans seem to have a blend of materials including cotton, polyester, and spandex. You want to find maternity pants that are flexible and stretchy, as your body will change shape throughout your pregnancy, and it’s very likely that not just your belly will grow.

5. Do I need maternity jeans?

Maybe not. It all depends on the individual. It is important to note, however, that wearing restrictive clothing can be extremely uncomfortable during pregnancy, and wearing too tight garments can also restrict blood flow and circulation, causing discomfort on the bladder and belly. The main thing is that you want to feel comfortable so that you can focus on the joys of pregnancy, and not the discomforts of it.

Conclusion

Pregnancy is an exciting time of change and growth. You are going through a series of dynamic transformations as your body changes inside and out. Early on in your pregnancy, it may be easy enough to fit into your regular jeans. But usually, around the end of the first trimester, they tend to grow a bit snug, and then you know it’s time to size up to maternity jeans.

Shopping for maternity jeans need not be a struggle. You may just need one solid pair that can serve as your go-to during your pregnancy, or maybe you need that one perfect pair for just the right occasion. Maybe you’d rather spend a little and get several pairs you can cycle through, and maybe you’d rather throw down a few more bucks on one higher-quality pair that will hold up throughout the third trimester and beyond.

Some maternity jeans have features that others don’t. It is important to consider which features are important to you, and not to overlook things that may not seem like a big deal at first, but will later drive you crazy (why are those front pockets fake?!).

Whatever your needs are, there is certainly the right pair of maternity jeans out there for you. Hopefully, this list has helped you narrow down your search a bit.

4. Molylove Baby Hair Brush

(Best value — $)

Molylove Baby Hair BrushWhy it’s great: This affordable, natural brush rivals the quality of some of the more expensive brushes we’ve looked at. It’s a great value if you want those hypoallergenic, goat hair bristles on a budget. Especially if you don’t think you’ll use or need the comb or massage brush that the sets always come with.
The bristles are incredibly soft and the brush works wonders if your baby doesn’t have a lot of hair. The soft bristles are also gentle and easy to work with. The brush is a perfect size and will help remove and prevent cradle cap build-up when used regularly.

Keep in mind: Because the bristles on this brush are made of goat hairs, the brush may shed a lot. There is also an odor that fades with time.

Good for: Brushing baby’s scalp on a budget!

6. KeaBabies Newborn Hair Brush

(Softest bristles — $)

Keababies Newborn Hair BrushWhy it’s great: This all-natural baby hairbrush by KeaBabies is handmade, with a natural beechwood handle and soothing goat bristles. These bristles are soft and help relax your baby, promoting circulation and helping to clear cradle cap.
Some soft brushes don’t work well on babies with thick hair, but the bristles on KeaBabies’ brush are soft and strong. They won’t hurt your baby’s scalp but will help to detangle their hair, stimulate their scalp, and promote health and growth. This all-natural brush comes in cute packaging and includes a cotton loop so you can hang it on your wall!

Keep in mind: The wood on this brush is porous. While you can use the brush on wet hair, it’s best not to submerge the brush in water. Also, note that the bristles are made of goat hair, so there may be an odor initially.

Good for: Babies with thick hair.

7. Natemia Quality Wooden Baby Hair Brush

(Perfect size — $$)

Natemia Quality Wooden Baby Hair BrushWhy it’s great: Natemia’s natural brush is made of soft goat bristles and beechwood. It’s also the perfect size for a baby’s scalp. Some baby brushes are either too large to comfortably comb a baby’s head or else won’t work on babies with longer, thicker hair. This natural hair brush addresses all of those issues.
The bristles are strong enough to brush through your baby’s hair. They’re also wide enough to cover larger patches of hair, but ultimately small enough for effective brushing. Using this brush can help stimulate your baby’s scalp, increase circulation to promote hair growth, and even help reduce cradle cap. Babies that don’t have hair right away can still benefit from a scalp brushing!

Keep in mind: While this brush is safe to use on your baby with supervision, make sure you put it away when you’re done – don’t leave your baby unattended with any hairbrush.

Good for: Babies with little to no hair.

8. Disney Baby Minnie Hair Brush

(Cutest design — $)

Disney Baby Minnie Hair BrushWhy it’s great: Disney Baby makes this cute, affordable brush and comb set with a Minnie Mouse theme. This is a great set for newborns, as the bristles are extremely soft. They work well enough to stimulate your baby’s scalp and brush out very thin hairs. They are also very gentle, so you don’t have to worry about hurting your baby.
This kit also comes with a small comb that can be perfect for detangling or working out those tough cradle cap scales. The two sides of the comb have different teeth, so you always have the tools you need to gently detangle your baby’s hair.

Keep in mind: The bristles on the brush are extremely soft. If your baby has thicker or longer hair, it may not work to effectively brush their hair. However, the included comb can detangle in a pinch!

Good for: Newborns with thinner hair.

9. FridaBaby Flakefixer Cradle Cap System

(Best for cradle cap — $$)

Fridababy Flakefixer Cradle Cap SystemWhy it’s great: FridaBaby’s Flakefixer is one of the most effective kits for removing cradle cap that we’ve seen. This three-step system includes a soothing, soft sponge to lather your baby’s scalp, a gentle bristle brush to loosen tough cradle cap scales, and a fine-toothed comb to remove the scales effectively.
This solution has been tested over and over and nearly always works when used correctly. It’s especially effective on tough cradle cap that won’t come off with a normal bristle brush. The comb can be harsh, so it’s best to brush carefully. However, you’ll be amazed when the cradle cap comes off in a single-use! Removing all of those scales is great for your baby’s hair.

Keep in mind: While it’s easy to get overzealous with the comb in this kit (removing those scales is satisfying!), be careful. The fine-toothed comb can pull the baby’s hair if you use it too aggressively.

Good for: Tough cradle cap situations.

10. Globe Toddlers Wooden Baby Bath Kit Gift Set

(Most giftable — $$$)

Globe Toddlers Wooden Baby Bath Kit Gift SetWhy it’s great: This is a great set that comes in a beautiful wooden box, with a cotton pouch, that’s perfect for gifting. It has a wooden hair brush that’s perfect for infants and helps to remove tough cradle cap. It also comes with a massager brush for older babies and toddlers.
The exfoliating glove is perfect for massaging your baby’s head while they’re in the bath and this kit comes with a regular sponge too! The adorable teddy bear will delight your baby and can also be used as a sponge! If you need something to take care of all your baby’s bath time needs, this is the set for you.

Keep in mind: The infant brush is made with boar bristles, rather than goat. This just means it is better at removing cradle cap, but isn’t quite as gentle for scalp soothing.

Good for: Anyone looking for an adorable, giftable hair care set.

11. Jordan & Judy Hair Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush

(Best massager — $)

Jordan &Amp; Judy Hair Scalp Massager Shampoo BrushWhy it’s great: This silicone brush comes in 3 different designs, but I love the bright yellow sunflower! This brush stimulates the scalp to promote hair growth, improve circulation, and help release cradle cap. The handle gives you a comfortable grip as you massage your baby’s head with this brush. It’s also great at detangling and brushing through wet hair.
On top of that, the silicone is soft and gentle on your baby’s scalp and can even be used on their entire body. You can massage or add shampoo/soap to clean your child at the same time. You can even use it to wash your own face!

Keep in mind: This works well with most hair, but you may want to add on a regular brush to style your baby’s hair and help it to lay flat.

Good for: Parents that want a scalp massager and detangler.

FAQs about Baby Brushes

1. Is a baby hair brush necessary?

While it’s not actually necessary, there are many benefits that your baby will get from using a hairbrush. It can help with bonding, establishing a bath time routine, and get them used to having their hair brushed. On top of that, it massages their head, stimulates hair growth and circulation, and helps to get rid of cradle cap.

2. At what age can I start brushing my baby’s hair?

You can start brushing your newborn’s head right away, even if they don’t have any hair yet. As mentioned in the previous answer, there are all kinds of benefits that have nothing to do with making your baby’s hair look good and everything to do with a healthy scalp.

3. Does brushing your baby’s hair help it grow?

Brushing your baby’s hair helps to remove dry skin and cradle cap, both of which can prevent hair growth. By removing those, you’re allowing your baby’s hair to grow, so brushing does actually help. Plus, it stimulates the scalp and circulation, which can also lead to new, healthier hair growth.

4. Do newborns lose all their hair?

Most babies do lose some, if not all, of their hair only a few months after being born. This is completely normal and doesn’t have any long-term effects on their hair growth. Take care of their scalp and hair by gently brushing to help minimize the hair loss and help new hair grow in its place.

5. What is cradle cap?

Cradle cap is a completely normal condition that most babies get in their first few months of life. It looks yellow or brown, greasy, and scaly. It usually goes away on its own, but you can help it along by gently brushing and scrubbing your baby’s scalp. You can also use baby oil or vegetable oil to soften the scales, making it easier to brush out. But, make sure to use a gentle shampoo on your baby’s hair because the oil can make the cradle cap worse if left on for too long.

6. What type of brush is the best for babies?

You’ll want something soft and gentle for your newborn’s sensitive head. Goat hair bristles are perfect for the job, as they’re very gentle but still strong enough to stimulate your child’s scalp and tame their hair. Boar bristles aren’t quite as gentle, so you’ll need to be careful using them, but they’re great for longer hair and getting rid of cradle cap. Silicone brushes are also gentle and great for massage and cradle cap. Ultimately, any of these will work as long as you’re careful with them.

Conclusion

One of the most important things to remember is to match the type of hairbrush to your baby’s hair. If your baby has thicker hair, brushes with extremely soft bristles aren’t going to work the same. Likewise, a brush with stiffer bristles will only hurt a baby with thin hair or no hair. Choose the brush that will get the job done and consider how difficult your experience with cradle cap has been as well. Some brushes are specifically designed to deal with this condition.

FAQs about clipping baby fingernails

1. Do I really need to cut my baby’s nails?

Sadly, yes, cutting baby’s nails is essential to keep the nails clean and to help baby avoid unwanted and unintentional scratches. If your baby is a thumb-sucker, clipping nails is especially vital. The good news is that there are few ways to accomplish this mission: You can use a nail file to sand the nails down, nail clippers to cut them, baby nail scissors, or a combination of the three.

2. When should I begin cutting my baby’s nails?

At one month old, baby’s nails start to harden and will have a firmer free edge making it easier to trim. For Babies born with long fingernails, you may need to file or cut your newborn’s nails earlier than at one-month-old.
As for the frequency, every baby’s nails grow at a different rate, so there’s no set schedule. You should plan to clip when you notice the fingernails are too long. Baby nails typically require trimming around once a week since they grow faster than adult nails. Luckily, baby toenails need trimming less frequently because they don’t grow as quickly during the newborn period.

3. Which is better for babies clipping, filing, or cutting nails with scissors?

Every baby is different, but most pediatricians recommend that parents file a newborn’s nails for the first few months. Even the most cautious parent can accidentally nip baby’s skin with clippers. That said, filing can be challenging early on when newborn fingernails are very soft and bendable. As baby gets older, you can use a combination of clippers, scissors, and baby nail files to get the job done.

4. What are the key features to consider when buying a nail clipper for a baby?

Safety should always be the number one feature. While snipping baby’s finger is unlikely to cause significant injury, it will add a layer of stress to the trimming process for both you and baby that will be difficult to overcome. The products above have various features designed to promote a safe trimming session; some features to look for might include a light or bulb, magnifying glass, safety window, buffer or protection from the blade, etc.

5. What are some safety tips when clipping my baby’s nails?

The most crucial safety practice for any new trimming device is to practice on yourself first. Most baby nail clippers are straightforward to use, but they are different from adult clippers and may require some time to adjust. Try a few practice rounds on yourself before baby to make sure you’re comfortable with your clipper of choice.
The most common pitfalls to avoid are tearing your baby’s fingernail or biting them down. Using your teeth risks infection, and you can tear too low and injure your baby.

6. What do I do if I cut a baby’s finger with nail clippers?

Despite your best efforts, pinching baby’s skin with a nail clipper is a distinct possibility. If you do cut baby’s finger, you will probably feel awful, but you certainly won’t be the first parent to do it.
First, stay calm and assess the wound. If the cut is deep and doesn’t stop bleeding, go to the emergency room. If the cut isn’t severe, apply pressure with a clean towel until the bleeding stops, then gently clean the area with soap and water. You may want to call your pediatrician if the cut does not stop bleeding or if you see any redness, swelling, or discharge from the injury or nailbed.
You can apply Neosporin to the cut a few times a day until the wound forms a scab. Avoid a Band-Aid, since it can be a choking hazard. If a bandage is needed, you can tape the area to prevent any stray pieces from coming loose. Do not suck on the wound with your mouth; this could introduce bacteria and lead to infection.

Conclusion

Clipping your baby’s nails does not have to be a stressful undertaking. With the right product or combination of products, you can transform clipping time from a source of anxiety to something you and baby enjoy together. The products highlighted above have been evaluated based on their safety and effectiveness, and each of them passed the rigorous mommy standard.
Selecting a baby nail clipper is one of few times when selecting a product is less about your baby’s preferences and more about your comfort level as a parent. Do you struggle to see well at night? Consider a flashlight or magnifying glass. Are you still terrified of snipping baby’s finger? Go with an electric file until you build up the courage.
Once you decide which products work best for you, your baby will pick up on your confidence and come to enjoy their weekly manicure!

FAQs about Baby Monitors

1. Why do I need a baby monitor?

Baby monitors allow you to hear or see what is going on in your baby’s crib at night while they’re asleep. While you don’t need one, it offers peace of mind and allows you to check on your child, without having to go to their room. It also alerts you when your baby wakes up in the night, so you can get up and feed them when they’re ready. Most new parents worry about their baby and a monitor allows them to stay connected to their baby all night long.

2. How long do you need to use a baby monitor?

This is really up to you. At around 3-4 months old, your baby should start sleeping through the night. At that point, you may not need the monitor anymore. Plus, babies go through different sleep cycles around 4 months old. When they’re in a lighter sleep cycle, they may make noise, which will alert the monitor and wake you up. However, you won’t need to go to your baby if they’re still sleeping. So having the monitor may disturb your sleep more than it helps. On the other hand, it’s nice to have the monitor for naps during the day, so you can make sure your child is safe while you’re doing household chores or taking a nap yourself. And you never want to ignore your baby if they wake up crying or haven’t started sleeping through the night yet at this age. You can continue to use the monitor as long as you feel you need it to make sure your child is safe sleeping on their own.

3. Is an audio monitor good enough or do I need a video monitor?

This really comes down to personal preference. An audio monitor works just fine for the most part. You’ll be able to hear your baby cry or fuss at night. And if you have one with two-way talk, you can try to soothe them back to sleep with your voice if it’s not time for a feeding. The video monitors have the advantage of letting you see your child. That way if they cry, you can look and see what’s going on. Maybe they’ve rolled over or are in an uncomfortable position and they need to be adjusted. Maybe they’re making fussing or crying noises, but are still asleep. With a video monitor, you’ll be able to see this and know whether or not you need to go into the room.

4. Do I need to worry about my monitor being hacked?

This is definitely a concern, whether your monitor is hooked up to Wi-Fi or not. Check out the security features on your monitor and make sure you choose one that has protections in place to prevent this. All the monitors on this list have features to protect against hacking. You’ll need to make sure you follow any instructions for setup and make sure you change the password to something unique. It’s also recommended that you shut off your whole system once a week, so it can download any security patches that may have come available.

5. What features should I look for in a monitor?

Most of the features that you’ll want to look for are pretty obvious. Check for safety and security first and foremost. After that, it’ll depend on your needs. You’ll want to make sure the monitor has enough range for your home and decent battery life. If you choose to go with a video monitor, you’ll want to make sure it has good picture quality and a nice-sized screen. Two-way talk, lullabies, and temperature sensors are also great features to have in a monitor. Convenience is also important, so check if you can move, pan, or tilt your camera remotely, so you don’t have to enter the room to move the camera.

Conclusion

If you’ve read all the reviews and the options and still aren’t sure whether a baby monitor is for you, you’re not alone! Many people assume that they can just live without one, especially since the baby is often in the parent’s bedroom for the first few months. The cost of some baby monitors may also seem excessive, but keep in mind that a camera is a one-time purchase that will last for years. Once your baby is out of their crib and into a big kid bed, having a monitor can create peace of mind during naptime, especially if you have a kid who likes to climb things they shouldn’t (like the bookcase or dresser). You can also set the camera up in a play area for easy monitoring while you’re throwing in a load of laundry or cooking dinner. Your one-time investment can be used well into toddlerhood, so buy a product that works for your family.

FAQs about baby toothbrushes

1. When should I start cleaning my baby’s teeth?

You should start cleaning your baby’s teeth twice a day (morning and night), as soon as teeth begin to pop through the gums. There are special toothpastes for babies that are safe, if swallowed. Let’s face it- many babies do not know how to spit. Not to worry, though, because that skill will develop a bit later.

2. Do I need to use toothpaste?

There are special kinds of baby toothpaste that are designed to be safe, if (when) swallowed. As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), you should use toothpaste from the time baby’s first teeth appear. However, you only need about a rice-grain-sized dab of toothpaste. They can have more as they get older.

3. What are some key features of a baby toothbrush?

Do you prefer to start with a finger toothbrush (the kind you wear on your finger)? Or would you prefer a manual? Go with what you feel most comfortable doing, as long as you are getting those itty bitty baby chompers cleaned so they can show off their adorable baby smiles. If your family prefers an electric toothbrush, they make that for babies, too!

4. Should I brush my baby’s gums?

Yes! It will help get rid of the sugars that are sitting there from milk/formula/food ingested throughout the day.

5. How often should I clean my baby’s mouth (teeth and gums)?

You should aim to clean baby’s mouth at least twice a day. Morning and night are ideal. If you can do so after each meal is even better!

6. How often should I change my baby’s toothbrush?

Dentists recommend changing toothbrushes once every 3 months, and that’s not just for baby- it’s for the whole family!

Conclusion

There are several choices out there for baby toothbrushes. Be sure to pick one that suits you and your baby. It could be a finger toothbrush, manual, or even electric. The most important thing is that you’re cleaning baby’s teeth and gums twice a day. This will help set your tiny tot up for success with teeth brushing and dental hygiene as they get older. FAQs about toddler workbenches

1. What Are some unique benefits to workbenches?

Workbenches are excellent for expanding imaginations, language, motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and social skills. Role playing requires kids to engage in storytelling as they create scenarios while experimenting and fixing trinkets. You’ll find that your little one will build confidence along with fun projects each time they play at the bench!

2. Are workbenches considered educational?

Absolutely! Creating projects and understanding how to use the tools flourishes your child’s critical thinking skills. Some benches even focus on shapes, colors, and numbers to expand knowledge. Workbenches establish Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math based play for small toddlers to 10-year-olds!

3. Should I focus on the types of projects the workbench includes?

That depends on the age of your child. Some workbenches include projects that are more in-depth and require more focus and attention to detail. This can easily be solved by having a parent or guardian play along to guide the child.

4. Does the size of the workbench matter?

It depends on what you’re trying to achieve with the workbench. If you’re looking for a small toy that offers new scenery while encouraging motor skills, the smaller workbenches will do. If you’re hoping to encourage creativity and longevity of the workbench, focus on getting a larger workbench that includes more intricate projects and tools. This will ensure the workbench will serve a purpose in the long-run. Once your toddler is old enough to play pretend, the advanced capabilities will keep the fun going.

5. Does it matter if the workbench structure is wood or plastic?

Not necessarily. Some workbenches are plastic and smaller, providing a great option for smaller toddlers to tinker with. It also makes storage easier. Larger, heavier workbenches are great for both toddlers and older children to ensure your growing child won’t outgrow it too quickly. The wooden structures are durable but are heavier and more difficult to move.

6. Do the workbenches come with expansion packages?

While most workbenches include a specific set, the wooden or larger benches are compatible with other tools and pieces. You can easily find additional compatible pieces if you’re unsatisfied with the accessories that come with your workbench.

7. I notice all the workbenches say ages 3+. Can I purchase a bench for my 12-18-month-old?

You can! The reason behind this suggestion is for the small pieces that pose a choking hazard. Some workbenches come with larger pieces, while others come with plenty of accessories and tools that your little one can still play with. If you’re eager to get your tiny tot on a workbench, focus on the ones that are brighter, colorful, and smaller in size.

Conclusion

There are many options to purchase the perfect workbench for your toddler. Varying in price and capabilities, you’re sure to find a workbench for every stage of childhood. The benefits of workbenches include building language and social skills, establishing critical thinking, enhancing physical and motor skills along with hand-eye coordination. Workbenches that are larger and more intricate encourage creativity and role-playing which expands your child’s imagination. Be sure to check out the number of accessories and size as they vary between workbenches.

FAQs about Nursing Bras

1. Should I get a nursing bra or maternity bra?

Nursing bra and maternity bra are interchangeable terms. Specifically, maternity wear is typically stretchable for pregnancy when your size is changing. Nursing clothes are geared towards postpartum and it’s conveniently made for feeding purposes.
If you’re pregnant, you will need a nursing bra whether you plan to breastfeed, bottle feed, pump, or any combination of those mentioned above. Your breasts are changing in size to produce milk, and a nursing bra provides comfort for your new bust size fluctuations. Regular bra cups aren’t flexible, and they often come with some challenges you don’t want to deal with during postpartum. A nursing bra is designed to meet and overcome these obstacles.

2. When should I get a nursing bra?

You’ll most likely end up getting a bra at least two times. During pregnancy, you’ll need a maternity bra to accommodate your expanding breasts and ribcage. We suggest getting one or more nursing bras during the latter part of the third trimester before the baby is born. Some moms may need more after the baby is born because their size changes again!

3. What features should I look for in a nursing bra?

Consider what kinds of bras you already wear and what you like or don’t like. These feelings will be amplified. If you hate underwires, it’ll be more bothersome. If you love cotton bras, you’ll love them even more. Think about whether you’ll want something you can just pull down or if you’re okay with using a clip.

4. How many nursing bras will I need?

Get at least two bras. You’ll need one on while one is in the wash. Three is ideal because you’ll be dealing with throw-ups, leaks, sweat, and other unforeseen situations, too. It’s great to plan ahead and have a backup.

5. How do I get the perfect fit when buying online?

There isn’t a one size fits all guide. Almost all bra sellers have a size chart guide for you to follow. Use it to determine your size by measuring over and under your bust. Keep in mind most moms need to buy one bust and back size above chart recommendations.

6. Do I care for my nursing bras differently?

To keep the integrity of your nursing bra for the next few months (years for some!), the best practice requires you to wash your bras by hand and hang dry them. It will take some of your precious time to hand wash, but consider washing your bras while you shower. If you must machine wash, a lingerie bag will help your bra’s longevity.

Conclusion

Nursing bras are essential for moms everywhere. The constant changing of our breasts and ribs during pregnancy requires clothing that’s adaptable beyond what we’re used to. After birth, you’ll still deal with constant bust size changes due to the fluxes in milk production and consumption. You’ll need something functional based on your needs, be it nursing, pumping, or both. Our comprehensive list and helpful FAQ should get you set up for whatever bust shape your experience takes. Happy nursing!

9. MAM Start Newborn Pacifiers

(Best for newborns — $)

Mam Start Newborn PacifiersWhy it’s great: This pacifier by MAM, another popular brand for baby products, is well-liked by parents for its innovative design and versatility. The symmetrical shape of the nipple also allows for reversible positioning and is excellent for jaw and teeth development. One of the best features of this pacifier, which comes as a set of two, is its self-sterilizing case, which allows parents to easily clean and use this product in less than three minutes, even on-the-go.

Keep in mind: This is another pacifier that can be hard to wash by hand as water can easily get trapped inside. Fortunately, these pacifiers come with their own sterilizing case for easy and effective cleaning.

The curved shield provides maximum comfort, while small openings better allow your baby’s skin to breathe. This pacifier also comes with a self-sterilizing case, making it easy to clean effectively and efficiently.

Keep in mind: Some parents say that this pacifier’s design is too small for their baby to use, so be sure to only buy for infants 0-4 months as that is the age the product is intended for.

FAQs about Pacifiers for Breastfed Babies

1. What are the benefits of giving a baby a pacifier?

Pacifiers can sometimes feel like a miracle fix for a fussy baby, but soothing is not all they’re good for. Studies show that using pacifiers can decrease the risk of SIDS, improve oral motor functions, and teach babies how to calm themselves down. Babies naturally want something to suck on and using a pacifier is a good way to give mom’s nipples a break, especially if her nipples are already sore from breastfeeding.

2. What are the risks of giving a baby a pacifier?

Using a pacifier may affect the way a baby latches to the breast, though many pacifiers are designed to mimic a natural nipple to avoid this. Some studies show that babies who use pacifiers have an increased rate of ear infections and prolonged or excessive use of a pacifier can affect oral development, particularly teeth and speech. If you have any questions or concerns about using a pacifier, be sure to check with your pediatrician.

3. Does using a pacifier affect breastfeeding?

It’s possible that early pacifier use may interfere with a breastfeeding routine. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting three to four weeks to introduce a pacifier to ensure you’ve established a good nursing routine with your little one.

4. How long should a baby use a pacifier?

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians advise reducing or stopping pacifier use at around six months to avoid the elevated risk of ear infections. Long-term pacifier use past the age of two years can increase the risk of orthodontic issues. General guidelines indicate that it’s best to phase out a pacifier by the end of a child’s first year.

5. What are the best practices for using a pacifier?

To avoid the spread of germs and bacteria, be sure to clean pacifiers often, either with a sterilizer, in boiling water, or in the top rack of a dishwasher. Be sure to use appropriately sized pacifiers for your baby to avoid choking or safety hazards. Make sure that your baby’s fussiness isn’t because he or she is hungry. Don’t use a pacifier in place of feeding or to extend the length of time between feedings, as that can disrupt feeding rhythms.

Conclusion

Finding the perfect pacifier for your baby can be challenging but the effort is worth the reward when your little one can soothe themselves into a dreamy sleep. It’s important to consider your baby’s age, size, and any special needs they may have when choosing a pacifier. Safety is another important factor, so be sure that materials are free of BPA and other harmful chemicals and that design elements take your baby’s health and safety into consideration. For breastfed babies, parents will want to find a pacifier with a nipple that has a natural texture and symmetrical shape to make the transition between breast and pacifier as seamless as possible.

There is nothing like giving your brand new baby a bath for the very first time. They are just so stinking cute and tiny. And, seeing how they react to the water is a memory that you will keep forever! Of course, you want to choose a bathtub that works for you and your baby, as well as in your bathroom. Whether it is an inflatable tub or a spa-like tub, you will want to pick something that work best for you.

Here are my 7 favorite baby bath tubs:
[ez-toc]

Best Baby Bathtubs

1. Mommy’s Helper Inflatable Bath Tub Froggie Collection

(Best budget option — $)

Bath Tub Froggie CollectionWhy it’s great: With its adorable “froggie” pattern, this tub is great for taking on adventures! It works in hotel bathtubs and can even fit in certain RV showers. It is an inflatable tub, so if you are traveling, you can deflate it until you get to your destination. This tub goes up to 24 months. It provides a nice padded bottom that is comfortable and slip-resistant. It does a have drain. There is a “saddle horn” that will help your baby stay in the seated position during the bath. This tub also works great at home, by the way, especially if your baby outgrew a tub that you and your babe also loved, but it only went up to 6 months. You can’t beat the price, either!

Keep in mind: You do have to blow this up. However, it does not take much effort. No worries!!

Good for: Bathing baby while traveling, but also can be good at home!

2. Summer Newborn to Toddler Bath Center and Shower

(Most versatile — $$ )

Bath Center And ShowerWhy it’s great: This bathtub has a fourth stage for an even longer use. The tub is big enough for a baby through age 2. It even comes with a battery-operated shower unit, which has a light and gentle pressure. This piece is removable from the tub. There is a drain in this tub, so you can let the water drain rather than having to dump it. It has a removable sling, too. You can use the sling in the sink in the very beginning when baby is super tiny or in the tub itself, which can be quite helpful for your back!

Keep in mind: Some parents had a little bit of trouble with the battery-operated shower unit. The Consumer Relations department seemed to be of good help, though!

Good for: Use up to 2 years old.

3. Skip Hop Baby Bath Tub: Moby 3-Stage Smart Sling Tub

(Most adorable — $$$)

Smart Sling TubWhy it’s great: This is a 3-stage tub. It goes from newborn through 25 pounds. The sling is just the ticket for newborns, but when baby hits stage two (around 3 months), the sling adjusts, so that it’s more of a backrest for your growing babe. When your little one is around 6 months and sitting up completely alone, the sling can be removed and baby can sit in the tub. Plus, it is shaped like a cute little whale, and who can resist cuteness? There is a drain plug and a hook for storage when not in use.

Keep in mind: Some parents have had some trouble with the mesh getting a little stinky. However, it can be machine washable, if you put it on the gentle cycle and cold water. Then it should be hung to air dry. This should keep it from getting smelly!

Good for: Giving older babies space in the tub.

4. Blooming Bath Lotus – Baby Bath

(Most unique — $$)

Blooming Bath Lotus - Baby BathWhy it’s great: This tub definitely has the cuteness factor! Baby laying in a flower? Too cute! It is also super soft for baby’s comfort. It fits in the sink just so, with its four separated petals. The petals are adjustable to make it just right for your sweet babe. It works in big sinks AND small sinks. This tub comes in a variety of colors, too. The Blooming Bath Lotus is made of antimicrobial form, so bye-bye mold and mildew!

Keep in mind: This tub goes up to 6 months of age, but it is possible to lay it on the bottom of the tub and let baby sit. This is just another form of sweetness!

Good for: Babies up to 6 months of age.

5. Summer Lil Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa and Shower

(Most luxurious — $$$)

Bubbling Spa And ShowerWhy it’s great: This tub has an insulated double wall, in order to help keep the water temperature warm for baby’s comfort. It has a bubble-making feature, too, which is fun for baby (and a good distraction for babies, who are not feeling bath time). This one has a shower sprayer, which is removable and can be used even after baby has grown out of the actual tub. That can extend the use of the tub for you! The merchant says that you should turn the showerhead on pointing towards the bottom of the tub. Hold it there for a minute, until the air is out of the hose. The water should begin to come in a steady stream for you and your little one.

Keep in mind: The Summer Lil Luxuries Whirlpool requires batteries, but that’s just so that baby can super enjoy a bubbly bath and that YOU can use nice clean water to rinse at the end without hunting for a cup every time.

Good for: Bringing some luxury (and bubbly distraction) to bath time.

6. The First Years Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn to Toddler Tub

(Best for temperature gauging — $$)

Deluxe Newborn To Toddler TubWhy it’s great: This baby bath tub fits in single and double sinks, as well as a full-size bathtub! It has a removable sling for newborns that is easy to launder whenever necessary (and with a baby- sometimes- it can really be necessary). There is a drain inside of the tub that also acts as a thermometer to let you know if baby’s water is too hot. This tub grows with your baby and can hold baby up to 25 pounds.

Keep in mind: There is a hump in the middle of the tub. That is so that, when baby can sit, there is a place for them to sit with support.

Good for: A newborn, so it can grow with you. You will get longer use out of it that way. It works for babies at other ages, too, though!

7. Angelcare Baby Bath Support

(Easiest to clean/dry — $)

Angelcare Baby Bath SupportWhy it’s great: This baby tub has a solid-yet-soft mesh, which essential creates an airflow and keeps mold from having anywhere to hide or grow! The Angelcare Baby Bath Support dries fast. It comes in 3 colors. It has a hook on the back to hang it up on the wall (in your bathtub or of your bathroom) when you are not using it. It is best to use this inside of a bathtub because of the holes. It is a light bathtub and has a hook that you can use when it’s not in use. There can be room for another/older sibling to sit in the tub, while this baby tub is in use.

Keep in mind: This tub goes up to 6 months/20 pounds or up to the point when baby is sitting unassisted. However, it is VERY worth it!

Good for: Babies under 6 months/20 pounds.

FAQs about baby bathtubs

1. Where do I want to bathe my baby?

Do you have a bad back? If so, you will probably feel more comfortable with a tub that you can at least start out using in the sink. Otherwise, you may want the tub you choose to start in the sink just the same, or you may want the tub to fit into your regular bathtub. Think about what will work better for YOU.

2. Where will I store the bathtub?

Do you have a hook on the back of your bathroom door to store the tub? Will you mind just storing it off to the side? Different bathtubs store different ways. Some will have hooks or suction cups, while others will only be able to be stored on the side or floor (or in your regular tub when it’s not in use).

3. How does my little one’s age factor into the purchase of a baby bathtub?

A newborn baby will most likely need an insert unless it’s the Angelcare Support. That one is kind of a support in itself. For a baby that can sit unassisted, you may just be looking for a tub that is baby’s size. While many are a package deal, just keep their age in mind as you are searching.

4. What are some key features of baby bathtubs?

Are you putting this on your registry for your unborn babe? In that case, you will want a tub that supports a newborn, at least, if not beyond. Think about where you are going to keep the tub. Do you have space to hang it or will it have to sit in the regular bathtub when neither are in use? Think about how you will keep it clean. Now and then, even baby tubs need at least a wipe down. Some may even have pieces that may be able to be thrown in the washer.

5. How long do I need the tub?

This can affect your choice because some tubs are meant for babies up to age 2, while other tubs only go to 6 months of age. Take into account when you are buying/receiving the tub. If you are buying the tub when baby is already here, you might not need to worry about the infant insert as much. Most will come with it but have other stages of use for you and your baby.

6. Will I need to hold my baby the entire we use the tub?

Some tubs are narrower, leaving less room for baby to move around. This also gives your little one a better chance of you not needing to support them the entire bath. Others will give your baby more room to splash around, but until they can sit by themselves, you would need to give full support.

Conclusion

There are a variety of baby bathtubs from which you can choose! Some inflate, others bubble, while others yet fit better in the sink or the regular bathtub. Remember to keep in mind where will you store it between baths, how you will clean it, and how old your little one is at the time you will start using this tub.
No matter which bathtub you choose- you should always be within arms-reach of baby the entire bath. Make sure you get everything you need during and after the bath BEFORE the bath, like soap, washcloth, towel, clean diaper, baby lotion, clean clothes/pajamas, etc. That way, you can solely focus on bath time with your little one! Bath time is a great time for making memories of how little and amazing your little one is. Even if your baby won’t remember these days, you will hold them in your heart forever.

FAQs about Ride-On Toys for 2-Year-Olds

1. What is the youngest age for a ride-on toy?

Such a great question. Once your child is 1-year and older, you can start looking at push ride-on toys. These toys also help a child with balance, coordination, and gross motor skills. A rocking toy is also suitable for a 1-year-old. Just make sure that your child can hold their weight when they sit up.

2. Does my child need a helmet when they are on push toys or rocking toys?

Generally speaking, if a toy has pedals and is operated outside, you should wear a helmet . A rocking horse is a gray area and is up to the parents’ discretion.

3. Are there things to keep in mind before I put my 2-year-old on a ride-on toy?

The same rules that apply when playing with your toddler every day apply when your toddler is on a ride-on toy. A close eye is always a good idea when your toddler is on a ride-on toy. Whether it’s a rocking horse or self-propelled toy, toddlers can get into trouble in the blink of an eye. It’s always best to stay close no matter what your little is up to. Also, make sure that your child is ready for a ride-on toy.
A sense of balance is essential for this type of toy. Being able to steady oneself and sit upright is key to enjoying a toy that can rock or move.

4. How will I know when my child has outgrown a toy?

The good thing about kids is they don’t keep their feelings to themselves. Generally, if a child doesn’t enjoy a toy anymore, they will let you know either by not playing with anymore or by flat out letting you know. Gotta love kids. Self-propelled ride-on toys mostly appeal to the younger set between 2-3 years of age. As kids grow, they yearn to pedal themselves on a tricycle or a big wheel. A smaller rocking toy is also suitable for smaller kids, but a larger rocking horse can grow with a kid up to 6-years-old.

5. Can these toys be used outdoors?

Most ride-on toys can be used outside with no problems. Just keep in mind that if your toy uses batteries storing electronics outside may not be a great idea due to bad weather.

6. Will I be able to put this toy together? I’m not very handy?

I completely understand your concern. Rest assured that most ride-on toys come with very easily understood directions, even for someone who wouldn’t consider themselves handy. In some cases, there are online tutorials that can help you assemble the toy.

7. Can you add anything to a ride-on toy?

Some kids like a little something extra with their ride. Here are some suggestions if your child wants the spotlight on them!
Decals Horn

Conclusion

Whether you choose a rocking horse or a ride-on toy for your 2-year-old, this kind of toy is sure to bring many hours of joy to your child’s life. With so many choices out there, it’s often best to think of your child first before buying the first toy that appeals to YOU.

What kinds of toys does your child like? Does your child like to zoom around, or does he/she prefer to rock instead? Do they like quiet time, or would they prefer an interactive toy with all the bells and whistles?

Another thing to consider will be if you want to deal with batteries. Many ride-on toys on the market require them, so if that’s not your style, you should perhaps gravitate toward a quieter, plusher toy.

Once you figure what’s best for your kid, it’s only a matter of time before they are having a blast.
You’ll be amazed at your child’s imagination and the world’s they can create once you give them a toy that can move! Happy exploring!
