Baby Onesies – Cute & Cozy!

1. L’ovedbaby Organic Kimono Bodysuit

(Most unique — $)

L’ovedbaby OrganicWhy it’s great: It’s a unisex bodysuit styled as a kimono. It doesn’t get more unique than this! Actually, it does. These outfits come in 12 beautifully rich colors, including seafoam, eggplant, and stone. Find this adorable style in sizes preemie/newborn (4-7lbs) to 6 months (22lbs). It goes on easy thanks to the wrap design and front snap closure. That means no over the head shenanigans. We all know how much babies don’t like anything going over their adorable faces.

Unlike other bodysuits, the L’ovedbaby brand is ethically made in India. This cotton blend is also GOTS-certified, which means it contains none of the usual chemicals found in clothing, such as flame retardants and solvents. This is the kind of body-hugging suit you want against your baby’s delicate skin. You’ll also find gloved sleeves to keep your baby’s hands warm (except in sizes 6-9 months).

Keep in mind: While these are long-sleeved bodysuits, you’ll need to put your baby in pants if necessary. Most customers encourage ordering one size larger, but because of the style, they are supposed to fit somewhat loosely.

Best for: Babies who fuss when anything goes over their heads.

FAQs about Baby Onesies

1. Are onesies safe for newborns?

This is a debate with no clear answer. The issue is the umbilical cord stump. Many people believe that onesies irritate this, while others say that it helps to keep the stump protected from snagging on something else. Your options are to play it safe and wait until the umbilical cord falls off and heals, or you can try using a onesie and keep an eye on the umbilical cord and how it reacts. If it seems to be irritating the area, then you should wait to use a onesie.

2. Are onesies comfortable?

This can really depend on the onesie. You’re likely already looking in the right place if you’re shopping for organic, cozy onesies. The type of material can make all the difference when it comes to comfort. Organic cotton is your best bet, as it is both incredibly soft and breathable.

3. Can my baby sleep in a onesie?

Absolutely! Most onesies are designed for just that purpose. They make nighttime changes quick and easy because they almost all have snaps at the bottom. This means that you won’t have to completely undress your baby to change their diaper in the middle of the night. Keep in mind that you’ll need to make sure your baby is wearing the correct size onesie though. A loose or baggy onesie could bunch up near your baby’s face when they’re sleeping and cause a suffocation risk. Zippers on onesies are also a suffocation risk while sleeping for the same reason.

4. Should a onesie fit tight or loose?

Onesies are meant to be comfortable and convenient. This means that they’re not meant to be worn too tight or fitting. However, they’re also not supposed to be big and baggy, especially because of the risks mentioned above when sleeping. The best thing to do is find a onesie that’s a perfect fit, somewhere in between tight and loose. It’s better to have to err on the side of looser though, as your baby can always grow into it.

5. Why do onesies have wide or lap shoulders?

Many parents wonder why baby onesies have lap shoulders and assume that it’s to make it easier to get over their head. This is actually not true. The reason for the envelope-style shoulders is to make it possible to pull it down off your baby’s body. This can be a real lifesaver when your baby has a poop explosion. You don’t want to have to take a poop-covered onesie and pull it up over your child’s head, risking covering them in it. The wide neck and lapped shoulders make it possible to stretch over your baby’s shoulders and be pulled down off your baby.

6. When do babies stop wearing onesies?

This is really based on personal preference, but usually around two years old. This is because as your child starts getting to be more mobile and walking, a onesie may start to feel uncomfortable. Also, the main purpose is to give your baby something cute and comfy to wear that gives the parent easy access to diaper changes. When your baby gets to be around two years old, they’ll likely be in pull-ups or potty training. At this point, the onesie isn’t as convenient to use. However, there’s nothing wrong with keeping your child in a onesie longer if they still fit and seem to be comfortable for your child.

Conclusion

You’re now ready to get the best babywear out there. From short to long sleeves, snaps, zippers, sleepwear, and daytime get-ups, you have all the right information to select a kind of onesie your little one will want, or maybe you’re here because you want to give one or more. Choose from all white, simple patterns, or themed designs from there. You have plenty to pick from without feeling too overwhelmed. Just remember babies are growing fast, so choose quickly with that in mind before they move a size up!

When the weather is warm, keep your kid’s feet comfortable in summer sandals. A great pair of sandals is toddler-proof, meaning they’re sturdy enough to hold up to a clumsy walker, stay on even when your mini-me tries to tear them off, and are soft enough to be comfortable on a little one’s tender, soft feet.

Of course, a fashionable shoe doesn’t hurt, either! Since toddlers grow out of their shoes so quickly, it doesn’t pay to break the bank on a pair of snazzy sandals, so here are some of our favorites that are affordable and perfect for your whirling dervish of energy this summer season going into fall.

FAQs about Toddler Sandals

1. Do toddler sandals run true-to-size?

As with many other shoes, most toddler sandals don’t always run true to size. Check the size chart, no matter what brand you’re buying, and read the reviews so you’ll know how they run. It’s okay to buy shoes a half-size larger than your child wears, but anything bigger can be a safety hazard!

2. Is it safe for new walkers to wear sandals? Are they supportive enough?

While most experts advise babies should learn to walk barefoot, shoes are appropriate for protecting the feet when you’re going out of your home. It’s perfectly safe for kids to wear sandals, no matter what age they are, as long as they get to roam barefoot the rest of the day! Make sure sandals are flexible, breathable, supportive, and lightweight and your toddler will be just fine in his or her sandals.

3. Are sandals for girls and boys? How do you know?

Many toddler sandals are unisex and this is usually denoted either in the title of the shoe or the description. Sizes at this young age can be for boys or girls!

4. How often do I need to buy my toddler new sandals?

This varies depending on your child, but typically toddlers’ feet can grow half a size every 2 to 4 months. You’ll need to check every couple of months to make sure your child has at least half an inch between their toe and the toe of the shoe.

5. What features should I look for in toddler sandals?

This will vary based on preference. Think about what your toddler will be using the sandal for and how active they are. For super active kids, you may want one that covers the toe to prevent stubbing. If you’ll be spending a lot of time at a pool, beach, or lake, you’ll want a pair that doubles as a water shoe. Any toddler sandal should have plenty of ventilation to keep their feet cool. Comfort and fit are always important too, in any type of shoe for your toddler.

Conclusion

Buying sandals for your toddler doesn’t have to be a headache. Though you may be tempted to buy something super glittery, cute, and chic, keep in mind that when it comes to shoes for little feet, you have to opt for comfort over fashion (but feel free to buy the sparklies for yourself!) This means sandals should be supportive and comfortable and also have arch support for developing feet and toes.

Toddlers’ feet grow super-fast, and with that in mind, many parents tend to size up a bit, which is fine if it’s a half-size. This gives kids ‘room to grow’ so they can wear the same shoes for more than a few months! For the perfect fit, make sure toes have space in front of them (and aren’t hanging over the edges of the shoe) and check to make sure your kiddo’s feet don’t have marks on the sides of their feet after wearing – this could mean the shoe is too tight.

FAQ about Baby Memory Books

1. What should I consider when purchasing a baby memory book?

While all baby memory books are designed to help you document your little one’s first few years, there are definitely some key differences to consider when choosing which baby book will be most enjoyable for you to use. Do you want to include lots of photos of your beautiful baby? It’s probably best to choose a book that has room to add extra pictures. Love to write? Go with a baby memory book that’s designed like a journal with lots of open space for writing. Prefer something simpler? Some baby books feature prompts that only require simple answers that are short and sweet.

2. What should I include in a baby memory book?

Many baby memory books are like guided journals with lots of direction, so you don’t have to come up with all the ideas on your own. Typical elements often include pages to document details about pregnancy, baby’s birth, monthly check-ins, yearly birthdays, and all of your baby’s monumental firsts.

3. What if I don’t want to fill out certain pages?

Sometimes, there’s a page that doesn’t make sense to include for your baby, whether it’s in regards to a holiday you don’t celebrate or a first that doesn’t apply. Some books offer the option to easily remove pages from the binding. If that’s not the case, you can carefully cut out a page or better yet, just cover the page with extra photos of your adorable baby!

4. What are the blank pages for?

While baby memory books often include specific pages for milestones and memories, there are often blank pages included to write something more freestyle. For these pages, consider elaborating on some of the milestones with the stories behind them. Jot down your little one’s unique likes or dislikes, their favorite books and toys, or a funny thing they said that you’ll want to remember forever.

5. How should I store a baby memory book?

Because it’s a keepsake item, it’s best to store your baby memory book as you would other fragile or valuable items in a safe, clean, and dry place where it’s easily accessible to work on or look at.

Conclusion

The first five years of your baby’s life are full of countless developmental milestones and precious moments. A baby memory book is a sacred space to document and preserve all the special details and exciting occasions that come to pass. It can also be a place to get creative, jot down personal statistics, and keep photos. No matter what memories you choose to highlight, your baby’s memory book will eventually become a window into the past and a beautiful keepsake to share with friends, family, and especially your little one as they grow old enough to appreciate your labor of love.

When you have a baby, your life changes. Something as simple as doing the dishes or laundry has now become a lot more complicated. Babies are very curious, so they can get into all sorts of trouble if left to their own devices, even if it’s only a couple minutes. That’s why it’s important to have a safe space where your baby or toddler can roam and play while you’re busy.

To create this area, you’ll need a baby gate, so I’ve compiled a list of my 11 favorite retractable baby gates to help you pick one out.

[ez-toc]

The Best Retractable Baby Gates

1. EasyBaby Products Retractable Baby Gate

(Best space saver — $)

Easybaby Products Retractable Baby GateWhy it’s great: This gate fits extra wide areas up to 71 inches and is extra tall too, so it’ll work for a variety of areas. The best part about this gate is that it retracts and rolls up into a thin little post when not in use. Most gates fold when they retract and end up being a wider rectangle at the end. It also has a nice handle and is easy to open and close with one hand. It is a mesh panel, so you don’t have to worry about your child sticking their hands through it either.

Keep in mind: This one must be installed between rigid surfaces, so it won’t work against stair banisters.

Good for: Those that want a gate that is almost non-existent when not in use.

2. Babepai Retractable Baby Gate

(Most versatile — $$)

Babepai Retractable Baby GateWhy it’s great: The Babepai is very simple and easy to both install and use. It also comes with extra mounts for multiple installations and is easy to move. It is durable enough that it can be used outdoors if you need a gate to block patio stairs. The mesh is easy to wipe clean as well. You can open and close it with one hand, but the mesh is also flexible enough in the middle that you could step over it if needed.

Keep in mind: It needs to be attached above the baseboard, which leaves a gap at the bottom. You can buy spacers to fix this though.

Good for: Parents who need a sturdy gate for indoor and outdoor use.

3. Momcozy Retractable Baby Gate

(Easiest to move — $$)

Momcozy Retractable Baby GateWhy it’s great: This gate comes with two sets of mounts, so you can move it from one area to another, giving you two different options for safe spaces. It comes in black, white, or grey, so you can try to color coordinate with whatever room you want to use it in. Not only does the lock at the top keep the gate closed, but it also keeps your baby from pulling it out when the gate is retracted and open. There’s also an easy-to-grip handle to pull the gate open or closed.

Keep in mind: This one is for smaller areas and only opens to 55 inches wide.

Good for: Parents who want to be able to block off multiple areas.

This gate comes with two mounts, so you can use it in multiple locations, and it’s easy to open and close with just one hand. It’s perfect for doorways or small openings and can extend up to 55 inches. Plus, it comes in three colors, so you can easily find one that suits your decor.

Good for: Parents that want to be alerted when the gate opens, in case their older toddler figures out how to use it.

8. Evenflo Baby Gate

(Best value — $)

Evenflo Baby GateWhy it’s great: This is the classic wood diamond design that’s been around since the beginning of baby gates. The design has stood the test of time and is still a favorite. It expands out to 60 inches wide, so you can use this in wider areas, not just regular doorways. It’s easy to open and close with just one hand, so you won’t have to put your baby down to get in or out. It also opens and closes from either end, making it very convenient.

Keep in mind: There is a safety rail at the top so you don’t get your fingers pinched when retracting, but it’s still possible that your child could get their hands or feet stuck in the diamonds.

10. Regalo Adjustable Baby Gate

(Best for wide areas — $$$)

Regalo Adjustable Baby GateWhy it’s great: This is the ultimate baby gate. It can fit huge areas up to 192 inches wide! It comes in 8 different panels, so you can adjust the size and shape as needed. It can go straight across a huge area, curve around a fireplace, or turn into a stand-alone, circular playpen. Four wall mounts are also included, so you can potentially set up two smaller gates in different areas. It also has a door that is easy to open and close with one hand.

Keep in mind: Because of the immense size of the gate, it doesn’t fold up very small. It ends up being the length of one panel. Also, this one isn’t retractable, but they don’t make retractable gates this large, so it’s your best bet if you need a super long gate.

Good for: Parents that need to block off an entire room or want to be able to make a playpen.

11. Toddleroo Baby Gate

(Best for stairs — $)

Toddleroo Baby GateWhy it’s great: The mounting system on this gate is very easy to install and can even be used on stairway banisters. The safety latch is easy to operate with one hand, but complicated enough that your child won’t be able to get it open on their own. The door only opens in one direction, which makes it perfect for use on stairs as the door won’t swing out over the top of them. It’s made of heavy-duty metal, so it’s nice and sturdy too.

Keep in mind: This one should really only be used indoors. It will start to rust a little when exposed to outdoor weather.

Good for: Parents who need to block off their stairs.

FAQs about Retractable Baby Gates

1. Why do I need a baby gate?

A baby gate has many different uses. You can use it to block off stairs, a fireplace, or any dangerous area of the house. You can also use it to create a safe space for your child to play. A lot of people also use gates to keep their pets in or out of certain areas of the house.

2. What kind of material is the best?

You have some choices in material for baby gates. Wood, metal, and mesh are the most common types. The one that is best for you will be determined by what you need from your gate. Are you looking to block off an opening? Wood is the cheapest option and should be fine. Do you need something sturdy that your child or pet can’t climb or knock over? Metal is best. Mesh works great for keeping arms and legs from sticking through the gate and is usually the easiest/smallest to store.

3. What size gate do I need?

Gates come in a variety of sizes. You’ll need to measure the opening where you’ll use the gate to determine the size. A lot of gates are adjustable, so getting a bigger gate that can also fit your space is a good option. That way if you move or need it in a bigger area, you don’t need to buy a new one. However, if you want the most space when stored, get the smallest size that will fit.

4. What do I do with the gate when I’m not using it?

You’ll have to decide what you prefer for this. Some gates have to be detached and put away. Others fold into small rectangles against the wall. The mesh usually rolls up into a little post. Any of these are fine. It just depends on personal preference.

5. What are the safety concerns?

As with anything that you’re using around your child, supervision is always best. Since the main purpose of the gate is to keep your child safe, there’s a little more leeway here. I would watch your child around the gate for a few days once it’s installed to see what kinds of dangers could arise. Are they able to climb over it? Are they strong enough to knock it over or open the latch? Can they get their arms and/or legs stuck between the bars? You’ll want to know these answers before you leave your child unattended near the gate. And I would still recommend that you check in on them often.

Conclusion

Whether you’re just trying to take a quick shower or are working from home, you want to know that your baby is somewhere safe. Baby gates are a great way to contain your child when you have other things you need to get done. They also protect them from dangerous objects or areas in your house.

When shopping for a gate, ask yourself these questions first. Where do I want to put the gate and how big is the opening? Do I have multiple areas where I might want to use the gate? Am I worried about animals or children climbing on the gate? Do I want something that saves me a lot of space when it’s opened or am I more concerned with how the gate looks?

Finding the right gate for you is easy if you take the time to think about what you need before you buy one.

FAQs about cars for babies

1. At what age can a baby start playing with a ride-on car?

Usually, these types of toys are recommended for children 12 months and up. Some even start at 18 months. They should tell you somewhere on the box or tag. However, as soon as your child can sit up on their own (around 6 months), they might like to play with some of the buttons and activities on the front or sides, depending on the toy. They just won’t get the full use of riding or pushing it until they’re a little older.

2. What are the benefits of getting my child a ride-on car?

All of these toys will help increase your child’s motor functions. From using their legs to scoot it to pushing it around when they’re learning to walk, these toys spur your child to use their gross motor skills. It also helps their fine motor skills with buttons to push, knobs to slide or turn, and sometimes sorting shapes to push through holes. They also usually have some sort of educational value as well. Some have the alphabet on them, some have clocks, and some have those sorting shapes I mentioned.

3. What features should I look for in a car?

This will vary by what you’d like to get out of your car. Do you want something that they can use outdoors? Do you want something more educational or more physical? Do you want music and noise or just something your child can use to maneuver around the house? There are so many options available and the features depend on personal preference.

4. What type of car should I get?

Again this will depend on personal preference. Some cars are more realistic and let your child get more of real-life experience. Some are made to ride or push. And some are more for entertainment and educational purposes. The type you should get is the one that has the features that you desire.

5. What are the safety concerns with a car?

As with anything that has to do with your child, supervision is necessary to keep your child safe. There is a risk of getting fingers caught in doors or seats that convert to handles. There is also a fall risk for anything that your child can climb on. As long as you’re watching your child, these toys don’t pose any danger.

Conclusion

Toy cars can give your child the mobility that they so desperately want as a toddler. Having something that lets them move around, while also offering other ways to entertain them, gives your child a feeling of independence. Being able to drive a car, just like their parents, makes children feel excited.

When you’re trying to pick out the right car, think about what features you’d like to have. Do you want your child to be able to play with it when they’re not riding it? Do you want it to have some educational value? Or do you just want them to have some mobility and strengthen their gross motor skills?

Keep in mind the answer to these questions and you’ll easily be able to pick out the perfect ride-on car for your child.

FAQs about baby car mirrors

1. What if my baby breaks the mirror?

All of the baby car mirrors that made our list are made from crash-tested, shatterproof materials. You can rest assured that your little one won’t shatter the mirror. Also, it’s important to note that when installed properly the mirror will be out of reach for your little one.

2. What age group are car seat mirrors good for?

There are two kinds on our list. The first is the car seat mirrors that make it possible for you to see your rear-facing child. These are great for newborns up to toddlers. The other option increases your view of the backseat by attaching to your rearview mirror. These are good up until the teenage years (aka the ruthless fighting with your sibling years).

3. Are car seat mirrors hard to install?

No! None of these mirrors require tools or much time to install. You honestly don’t even need the directions for most of these; however, if you like to play it safe, they all come with directions for installation.

4. What are the benefits of getting a mirror for my rear-facing child?

First and foremost, peace of mind. Having your baby or toddler in view reduces your stress while driving. Second, as your baby matures they will want to interact with you, and just seeing your face in the reflection gives them comfort. Third, toddlers gain self-awareness by looking in mirrors, so this is the perfect time for them to be able to study their own reflection.

5. Is my car compatible with baby car mirrors?

If your car has adjustable headrests you can install any of the baby car mirrors on this list. There are a couple of different mounting options, but they all require you to have headrests that adjust.

Conclusion

Riding in a car can be an experience that your little one looks forward to. Some babies innately love car rides, but some babies, unfortunately, despise them. A mirror that allows you to see your little one and your little one to see you can help to ease those car seat jitters. It’s natural to worry about our babies and not being able to safely see them only compounds that helpless feeling. Visual contact eases those tensions. Not to mention, a baby car mirror can increase the bond between parent and child.

If you’re a soon-to-be new mom who is already worried about traveling with a newborn, a baby car mirror is a must. If you have a baby who hates car rides or requires constant adult attention, these mirrors are also handy. Lastly, if your toddler is starting to get fussy on extended car rides a mirror may be the answer to your problem. There are tons of reasons to get a baby car mirror. Whichever one you choose will prove to be an asset when traveling with a baby.

FAQs about Baby and Toddler Bowls

1. What are the must-have features for baby dinnerware?

Safety first: you want to make sure that any baby bowl you purchase is BPA-free. BPA is the most common toxin found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, and you want your baby to steer clear of it. Other toxins you want to avoid are phthalate, lead, and PVC.

The next most important feature is how appealing it is to your little one. The right bowl can make all the difference in setting mealtime expectations. Then, you will want to consider your meal preparation and clean-up process and find a bowl that will facilitate, not complicate this process.

Finally, you should think about durability and find a bowl that can stand the test of time. If you have multiple young children, try a variety set to serve little ones of different ages. You will want bowls that your little ones will be excited to “graduate from” as their fine motor skills improve and their appetite grows.

2. Can I microwave my baby’s bowl?

You want to be sure to read the product description for this one. Most bowls with a suction feature that is not removable are NOT microwave-safe. The same goes for determining if a bowl is freezer or dishwasher-safe: be sure to read the product description. If you’re not sure, avoid microwaving; microwaving an unsafe bowl can destroy your microwave or cause a fire.

3. When should I start using baby bowls?

Most bowls are safe from six months old. You want to be sure that your baby can sit up properly before putting them in a highchair. Your baby can start using a bowl even before a spoon and a colorful bowl is an excellent way to entice your baby to begin baby-led weaning.

4. What should I keep in mind for a toddler bowl?

Toddlers like testing limits and every suction bowl is a challenge for most toddlers. You want to make sure any toddler dinnerware has great suction technology. By 18-months, your toddler should be able to communicate their preferences to you, so consider buying bowls and plates in their favorite colors to promote healthy mealtime habits.

5. Do suction bowls and plates work on all surfaces?

It depends on the product, but in my experience, wooden tables tend to pose the biggest challenge to suction bowls and plates. Most suction bowls and plates are perfect for highchair tabletops. If you plan to use a porous surface, try buying a single bowl first to test before ordering in bulk.

6. What is baby-led weaning?

Baby-led weaning (BLW) adds complementary foods to a baby’s diet of breast milk or formula. BLW facilitates the development of age-appropriate oral motor control while maintaining eating as a positive, interactive experience. Baby-led weaning allows babies to control their solid food consumption by “self-feeding” from their first experience with solid food. The term weaning does not refer to giving up breast milk or formula, but rather introducing foods other than breast milk or formula. Choosing the right baby bowl can play an essential role in baby-led weaning, as exciting colors and designs contribute to a positive mealtime experience.

Conclusion

Creating a positive mealtime experience is more than just feeding your child. It is critical to babies and toddlers to learn socialization, healthy eating habits, independence, and table manners. The right baby bowl can help support a lifetime of healthy eating habits and make your already challenging job as a parent easier by facilitating clean-up and meal preparation.

I reviewed the bowls on this list with an eye for visual appeal, design, durability, and safety. Any of these bowls, or combinations of the bowls, will serve you well in your mission to encourage a positive mealtime experience.

FAQs about maternity support belts

1. How many hours at a time should you wear a maternity support belt?

You should only wear a belly band (or any garment made for support) for no more than two to three hours at a time. Let your body do some of the work! After all, your body was designed for child-bearing. Wearing the support band for much more than suggested is likely to cause overdependence. It is also suggested that you work on strengthening your core in combination with wearing a support band.

2. Can I sleep in my belly band?

Belly bands help control your pain throughout the day, so that should help you sleep better and more painlessly at night. Some pregnant women do wear the belt at night, while others feel it is a bit too much to deal with when they are trying to relax.

3. How tight should the maternity belt be?

In pregnancy, comfort is always the most important thing to consider. A belly band or support belt should be snug enough to hold up your belly and help you feel supported, but you should be able to breathe easily and move around comfortably.

4. Do you wear a maternity belt on top of or underneath your clothes?

You can truly decide for yourself. It may depend on the articles of clothing you’re wearing whether or not it is visible from under your clothing. However, if you’re experiencing pain, you may not care either way. (Embrace your inner Home Depot worker and wear that thing on the outside!) Also, many reviewers suggested wearing a thin cami between their skin and the band, if only to prevent them from having to wash the band more frequently.

5. How do I wash the belly bands?

Each item comes with its own instructions, but almost all recommend air drying, not in the sun.

6. Are all maternity bands safe for postpartum wear?

Each product above specifies within the listing whether or not it is recommended for wear after pregnancy. Some are just for pregnancy, while others are ready to support your body on the road to recovery.

7. Are all maternity bands designed for exercise?

Yes, all of the above bands can be used to support an active mom-to-be. Just remember to sometimes give your body a break and strengthen your core without the added support.

Conclusion

There is a lot to consider when looking to buy a maternity band or belt to help support your growing body during pregnancy, but the main thing to remember is that all of the above are designed with you in mind. Find your perfect fit by measuring your body and considering where you might grow. You deserve to stand and wash dishes without pain in your lower back, or go for a jog and not feel stressed and unsupported. Maternity bands are ready to ease your round ligament pain, your joint discomfort, your lower back, and pelvic strain. Wear these bands over or under your clothes and ease your way into happier joints and, possibly, even better sleep!

FAQs about nursery dressers

1. Do I need a dresser for my baby’s room?

At first, buying a dresser might not seem like a necessary purchase. Upon further researching, you might come to realize that a dresser might be a necessary piece to help you stay organized as you care for your baby. As a multi-purpose piece of furniture, it can help keep you organized while keeping all your baby’s necessities within close reach.

2. How do you organize a baby dresser?

There is no wrong way to organize a dresser! The options are completely up to you and how it will best serve you and your family. As a few general tips, we would suggest starting with empty drawers. Make sure to declutter your dresser so that you have a clean slate. From there, it helps to group items by category. Use organizers to separate smaller items and make sure you don’t fold items that are too bulky. Differentiate your drawers and take advantage of extra drawer space. Lastly, keep the top of the dresser neat too. When you know where everything is, you can move through the space with ease and create less stress for yourself.

3. If there’s a dresser in the nursery, how can I keep my baby safe?

It’s always recommended to make sure that any heavy furniture is anchored to the walls. This will help prevent any heavy nursery items from falling onto your child and will prevent unnecessary accidents. If your dresser does not arrive with a wall anchor, you can head to any of your local hardware stores and purchase a wall anchor that will fit your specific needs.

4. What do you store in a dresser?

A dresser can store anything that you might need to use for your baby! You can store clothes, blankets, seasonal clothes, and even toys. If your dresser is also serving as a changing table, you can use the top drawers to store diapers, wipes, diaper cream, and anything extra that will help make changing your baby a breeze. The needs of what you can store inside the dresser will vary as your child grows, but the options are endless!

5. What items should be folded in a dresser and what should I hang up?

This is again completely up to you! As a general rule though, items that can wrinkle easily or are very delicate might be best hung up in an organized closet. If an item is bending the hanger while on it, then that item would be a great option to fold in the dresser. A majority of children’s clothes can be folded inside their dresser unless you have items that are prone to wrinkle or are too bulky to fit in the dresser.

Conclusion

There are many aspects of parenting that are going to be challenging. Keeping your baby’s room organized for those middle of the night changes doesn’t have to be one of those things. Finding the right dresser is a personal decision dependent on your own specific needs for you and your child. There are many options for nursery dressers that will be a beautiful piece of organization and peace inside your baby’s room. All of the options we’ve listed above are excellent and will help you to take the best care of your baby at any time of the day- even in the middle of the night!

FAQs about baby dolls

1. What are the benefits of playing with baby dolls?

Playing with baby dolls is a source of endless entertainment and has numerous benefits for child development. Here are just a few of the benefits of playing with baby dolls from a young age:

  • Speech and Communication: If you’ve ever watched a little toddler shush a baby or babble words of comfort, you’ve seen a lesson in communication. Although it may seem simple, when 1-year-olds “talk” to a baby doll, they are working on their earliest social skills. Playing with baby dolls also teaches your little one to communicate emotion and learn emotional concepts like “sad,” “happy,” or “mad.”
  • Compassion and Caring: Taking care of a baby doll teaches your 1-year-old the value of compassion and love. If you are expecting to add another child to your family, a baby doll is an excellent way to demonstrate how to nurture a baby and will help your 1-year-old adjust to being an older sibling.
  • Practical Skills: Many baby dolls come with removable clothing, pacifiers, bottles, blankets, hats, and other accessories that allow your 1-year-old to hone his or her fine motor skills in a play-based setting.

2. Isn’t my 1-year-old too young for baby dolls?

It’s amazing how early children enjoy playing with baby dolls. Even before they can actively play, children use baby dolls for comfort. Once babies gain better fine and gross motor control, they love holding, rocking, and shushing their babies. Most 1-year-olds are already learning to play pretend, making baby dolls an age-appropriate gift that also teaches important skills. Toddlers who are 1 or 2 years old will also enjoy many baby doll accessories, such as pacifiers, clothing, baby beds, strollers, and car seats.

3. What safety considerations should I keep in mind?

All the baby dolls on this list are safe for 1-year-olds. Look for baby dolls that are made of soft fabrics, and keep an eye out for any choking hazards, such as buttons, snaps, or other small parts that your little one might put in his or her mouth.

4. What materials are best for baby dolls?

Most 1-year-olds will do best with a baby doll made from soft material that they can touch and snuggle. However, if you’re looking for a more interactive doll, plastic is also totally fine. If you plan to take your baby doll on outings and expect it to get soiled, look for a doll that is easy to clean.

5. What about accessories?

If your 1-year-old enjoys baby doll play, you might choose a doll that has matching accessories you can buy to create a complete collection. Many toy strollers, car seats, cribs, and other accessories are made to match certain baby doll sizes or designs, so keep that in mind if you plan to expand your 1-year-old’s baby doll play options.

For toddlers who are new to baby dolls, a simple doll with a few accessories (an outfit and pacifier, for example) should be more than enough to keep them entertained.

Conclusion

Baby dolls are a perfect toy for all 1-year-olds. As with all toy purchases, the best choice is the one your little one will enjoy most. Consider what features will be most appealing to the 1-year-old in your life. Does he or she prefer interactive toys? If so, a doll that moves or makes life-like sounds would be a great option. If your little one is indifferent to talking toys and prefers quieter pretend play, it’s probably best to keep it simple and go with a basic doll.

The good news is, at this age, you really can’t go wrong with a baby doll. It’s a classic for a reason!
